Yes. Fern Hill has more than 600 students at the Oakville and Burlington campuses.
What sort of student makes the best candidate for admission to Fern Hill?
A typical Fern Hill student is outgoing, inquisitive, creative, enthusiastic and capable of handling a challenging academic programme.
What are the entrance requirements?
All students are required take an entrance test. Your child’s completed file will include the application fee, the completed application for admission form, a copy of the applicant’s birth certificate, a copy of the applicant’s final year report card, the confidential school report form and the applicant’s most recent report card.
What is the average class size?
Fern Hill has an average class size of 18 students per class.
Do students at Fern Hill wear a uniform?
Yes. Girls wear a skirt or gray flannel pants and a green single-breasted blazer and boys wear gray flannel pants and a green single-breasted jacket. Shirts for boys and girls are Oxford-type in white. The uniform also includes a v-neck sweater or sleeveless cardigan (grade 7 and 8 only) and a school tie.

What about Bussing?
Bussing is available to and from the Burlington Campus. Please contact the school at 905-634-8652 for more information. The school also encourages car pooling. Car pool forms are available in the school office for families wishing to set up car pool arrangements.
At Fern Hill we believe that parents who do not require bus service should not pay a transportation fee as part of the tuition package. A bus route map and fees are available should transportation to and from the school be required.
What are the fees?
Full-day school fees for the 2011-2012 academic year range from $16,350 – $18,425. Fees for half-day Preschool or Junior Kindergarten are $8,500. Please contact Mrs. Andrea Williamson in the admissions office at 905-634-8652 for more information.

What is included in tuition?
The tuition covers the academic programme. At Fern Hill there are no additional costs for: textbooks, notebooks, school field trips* or activities*. Fern Hill parents are not asked to contribute or raise money for expansion plans or capital costs.
In Grade 8, a technology fee is applied. The fee includes: rental of individual Tablet computer with warranty and accident protection (theft and loss not covered); help desk support; all software; loaner (if a tablet needs repair); Internet access at school; personalized e-mail account; Tablet training session; Targus bag. All Tablet computers are configured identically for both students and teachers in order to ensure compatibility across the curriculum.
*School trips/activities not covered by tuition include: Ski trips, Grade 5-8 outdoor education experience, Grade 7 Quebec Trip, Grade 8 Science Camp and Young Round Square exchanges/trips
Is there a lunch programme?
Yes, there is a hot lunch and beverage programme supplied by Aramark for an additional cost.
Is there before and after school care?
Yes, both before and after school care is available. Before school care is available from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. After-school care is available from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
